Ok Its Addicting. I'm A Joiner!!

Yep, I have joined another swap and some MORE knit-alongs. I guess it keeps me off the streets and out of trouble. LOL
I loved International Scarf Exchange 3. So when the sign-ups were opened for #4, I was right there on top of it all!
Then I let Dave lead me astray again and joined the Cover Your Head KAL. And it is worth it to note that he also is in SAM KAL 3. Hmmmmmm..... I sense a pattern here (pardon the pun!)

I usually don't get into the KALs that involve books. Usually because the books don't interest me enough to warrant more then one or two projects. HOWEVER, I love the Favorite Socks book from Interweave and of course, I had to join. C'est la vie.

At least I will be busy and Christmas will be tended to with all the fun knitting I am going to be doing the next few months.

The Week After......

It's been a week since I ventured back to work AND since my last post. And of course, I had a very busy, busy week. Lots of admissions, lots of very, very sick patients, lots of doctors . Considering I hadn't worked in two weeks, it just seemed worse the usual. I'd get home and fall face first in bed, exhausted.
Snooooorrkkkk!!! <--me snoring, he he he. I had been working on a sock from the custom Sockret Pal yarn one of the participants had dyed for us. The sock was almost finished...almost to the toe! And what did I do? Ripped it back to the beginning of the heel flap. Why? I just. didn't. like. that. heel. It didn't work for me. I would knit a while, look at the whole sock so far and think, 'hmmm maybe it would look better if I knit just a bit more'. I tried the thing on to or three times. I stretched it a bit. Nope... that wasn't it. It was a nassy, nassy heel. Now? I feel much better and will probably sleep better tonight (which is great considering I work my second job tomorrow). The redo looks much, much better.

I'll talk to y'all when I get back this weekend!

Hey Dave.....Guess What?

While I was making my resolutions for this year, (see earlier posts) I made the comment that I had enough yarn for 40-ish pairs of socks. Dave, of Criminy Jickets fame, commented in a polite manner about the amount of sock yarn. I was amused, kind of chuckled to myself and went on about my business.

While recooperating, I started cleaning a bit here and there in the house, particularly the middle (substitute--> knitting here) room . Then--I thought: "hmmmm I wonder JUST how much sock yarn I actually have.

Well Dave? Uhhh.....ummm ... welllllllllll.... it's actually enough for 72 pairs. NOT 72 skeins, 72 pairs. That excluding 4 additional pairs uncompleted and awaiting a decision to frog or not to frog. And no, I am not going to tell you how many ACTUAL skeins of sock yarn I have out of and in the public view.

I'm almost afraid to begin counting all the other stuff.

What I Did On Sick Leave.....

Usually when I am sick, I sit in my chair and watch old CSIs, old movies, go through all 10 seasons of Stargate, and basically veg out in a BIG way. This time around I decided to knit the We Call Them Pirates hat. It was a pretty great knit. Although......... I do not recommend knitting it while on cough medicine. It took me forever to figure out the decreases at the top. And anyone who has knitted this knows that the graph is NOT a difficult graph. Unless you are zoned on cough medicine LOL

Of course, the first hat went to my son, who has proclaimed it to be the worlds best hat. He has of course requested the mittens to go with the it. And has told me in no uncertain terms that it's NOT a pirate hat. It's a SKULL hat. I guess it's a guy thing.

I felt the overpowering need to knit myself a pirate hat as well. BUT in keeping with the spirit of stash busting I found a nice skein of a pink/green heather I won at ReBelle (our LYS ) And made my own.

This is the work in progress. I loved the colors. The effect is kind of muted until the wearer moves. Then people realize just what the design is and think it's very cool. Dare I say nifty???

And of course here it is completed.

I am now working on the mittens and they are not so difficult. I'm using them to warm me up for the Anemoi Mittens! Whew. I bought the pattern at "See Eunny Knit!" and plan on working them up soon with some great fingering weight alpaca in my stash. But I think I will wait until the cough medicine is out of my system.

Finally Better

I'm alive. And moving. AND able to breath now that the whole respiratory thing has gone. I haven't been to work in a week and a half. And don't feel the least bit upset or guilty. It was enough to be stuck in bed coughing my lungs out. And I have my doctor excuse in hand!
BUT while I was coughing my lungs out I did get two "We Call Them Pirates" hats completed. My hands can't lie still long. One hat in the traditional black and white for my son. And the other in a pink/green heather and white for me (so far. remember the knitting snarfs I am related to). I am going to try to get to work tomorrow night. And will be bebopping to the doc's tomorrow AM. Surely they will pronounce me cured.
I have another mammogram scheduled for Thursday AM. Apparently there was something up with the first one. Not to worry. Am certain its something up with the actual film/process. No lumps or bumps here! Keep your fingers crossed and we will see whats up.
Ta taaaaa everyone! It's time for bed. This bug has kicked my bottom and I'm exhausted.

Sick Bay

Well we are all ill in my home. Apparently there is something going around. I've missed 3 days of work and hope to get much better soon. In the meantime, I'll be sitting around and knitting when I can. Toodles!!

Sockret Pal!

I received an amazing package (which included my socks) from my sockret pal yesterday! I am sooo excited. This is the second package from her and each one is amazing! My socks are beautiful tooo... I am going to have to wait until Saturday night to post a picture, as I will be out of town tomorrow and Saturday day shift. But lemme tell you. She rocks!!!!

Mammo-what? A Healthcare Blerb.

This is going to be a busy day. It's annual mammogram day (for me). Not exactly my idea of fun but then hey, who's to say what may happen. Mom is going to meet me afterward and we are going to lunch, on her. See? There are perks!
Ladies! PLEASE remember to get your annual or semiannual mammogram. It's vital to your fuure health.
[I wonder if I can go off my yarn diet and pick up a goody for being a good girl. Hmmmmmm...]
